For the 2024 season ONLY ONE (1) yard of free mulch per household will be issued at the Compost Facility, 6909 Milestrip Road, Orchard Park during normal business hours 7:30 AM-3:30 PM Monday through Friday. One (1) free yard of mulch is good until June 1st 2023.
Make Check out to the Town of Orchard Park – bring proof of residency. Cash will not be accepted at the Compost Site.
The Orchard Park Compost Facility has been opened since 2003. Located at 6909 Milestrip Road Orchard Park — Phone (716) 667-6066
The yard waste picked up by the Town of Orchard Park is now delivered to the new Compost Site. The leaves are fluffed up and placed into windrows. Wood materials are run through a grinder one or more times as necessary to achieve a desirable sizing, and then placed into larger windrows. When the processing phase is completed, these refined compost and mulch products will be offered for sale at the facility. The proceeds will be used to help defray operating expenses.
The hours of operation for the Compost Site are:
SUMMER HOURS: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM (these are the office hours NOT the time slots to pick up mulch, see above)
Open Saturdays from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM starting May 4, 2024 until November 2, 2024
WINTER HOURS: 8 AM to 3:30 PM Monday – Friday, no Saturday Hours from November – April
The cost of Compost/Mulch is:
Resident $17.00 per cubic yard
Non-Resident $25.00 per cubic yard
Residents: Minimum $9.00 up to 30 gallon
Non-Residents: Minimum $15.00 up to 30 gallon
Please remember only ONE (1) yard of free mulch per household. One (1) free yard of mulch is good until June 1st 2024.
The following materials will be accepted at the Compost Site for recycling in modest volume by town residents only.
- Tree trimmings
- Tree trunks up to 18″
- Tree trunks up to 250 lbs.
- Leaves ALL MUST BE FREE OF PAPER AND PLASTIC ETC.
Please refrain from mixing plastic bags, animal waste, ornamental grasses, leaves and grass clipping with the tree debris.
Clean tree debris and leaves make for clean mulch and compost.
Town residents can deliver materials describe above free of charge to the Compost Site. Landscapers will be charged a modest tipping fee (check only).
