  • Western New York Southtowns Scenic Byways

    Address:
    PO Box 209
    Orchard Park , NY 14127

    Email: [email protected]

    Website: www.wnyssb.org

    Description:

Located just southeast of metropolitan Buffalo, the Western New York Southtowns are blessed with events and attractions that please people of all ages and interests. The Byway forms a slender triangle with Orchard Park, East Aurora and Springville at the three corners.

Route 20A forms the northern boundary and runs East between Orchard Park and East Aurora. NYS Route 240 runs South from East Aurora and links Aurora, West Falls, Colden, and Springville. US Route 219 and NYS Route 277 connect Springville to Concord, Boston, and back up North to Orchard Park.

The Winter sports scene is famous-cold winds off of nearby Lake Erie provide ample snow to create a wonderland of skiing, tobogganing, and great family fun.

In April, Winter yields to the rebirth of nature’s beauty. Well-stocked streams teem with trout and the wild flowers return. The maple trees offer some of the nation’s finest maple syrup. Photo opportunities abound. Spring beckons all to walk in one of the many area parks. Chestnut Ridge, Emery, and Sprague Brook Parks are highlights for all to experience.

The arrival of Summer means numerous weekend art shows and festivals throughout the area. This is a season for enjoying some of America’s most pleasant weather, with air conditioning courtesy of Lake Erie.

Summer gracefully transitions to Autumn and the harvest begins. Open air markets provide fresh, locally grown produce. Excitement builds for another season of Fall sports. As the Fall season cools, the magic of the trees takes over. Myriad colors consume the leaves.

With Winter’s arrival, the cycle of Western NY joy begins again.
