Starting in January of 2011 The Town of Orchard Park entered into a four year contract with Allied Waste (Republic Services) out of Kenmore NY. The Town has the option to renew on a yearly basis for up to four more years.
ALLIED WASTE USES SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING
Single Stream recycling is the latest technology that provides many benefits to the storing, collecting and processing of recyclable material. Using a combination of automated and manual sorting, Buffalo Recycling Enterprises' new facility can process 400 tons of residential and commercial paper, metal and plastic each day, enabling expanded recycling throughout western New York and bringing jobs to the area.
Residents will enjoy an expanded list of acceptable items for recycling and a simpler program because less material preparation is required such as sorting and sizing. Glass, plastic, metal, paper and cardboard can be co-mingled into one bin.
