In 1999, as a response to the fast changing advances in technology and Y2K issues, the Town Board
established the ad hoc advisory Computer Task Force. This group has evolved into a volunteer
standing committee of members with private sector expertise in the field of IT. They serve at
the pleasure of the Town Board and meet on an as needed basis when requested by the Town Board
to evaluate present Town systems, to recommend the most efficient cost effective upgrades as
needed and to inform the Town Board of the latest advancements in IT that may be applicable
for town use. The Town of Orchard Park GIS/Computer Support/ Network Specialist works closely
with this committee.
